There are many good places for oudoor climbing in Ål and also several boulders. Ål Klatreklubb (Ål Climbing Association) has an indoor climbing wall in Ål Idrettshall.
Indoor climbing
The indoor climbing wall in Ål Idrettshall is 12 metres high and has 10 routes with different levels of difficulty. You will also find an artificial boulder. You can climb in Ål Idrettshall when Ål Klatreklubb has practices, at Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 until 9 pm. Children are welcome to climb on Mondays from 6 - 7 pm. It is also possible to rent the wall, please contact Ål Klatreklubb.
Sundreberget
It is an area for climbing in Sundreberget, close to Ål city centre, with about 20 routes with different levels of difficulty. Information regarding these routes are to be found in the book "Klatreperler". The book can be bought at the Tourist Information for NOK 299.
Bergstølhovda
You will also find a climbing area at Bergstølhovda in Sangefjell at Veståsen. These routes are ideal for beginners.
Bouldering
At Hovda, close to Sataslåtten Camping, and in the forest close to Torpomoen, there are about 30 boulders. As the area is large and the boulders can be difficult to find, we recommend that you contact Ål Klatreklubb in order to find them.
